Tottenham Hotspur Player Ratings vs Man City: Poor Performance All Round as Spurs Slip To Title Contenders

How the Spurs boys fared against title contenders Man City.

Oh dear, it ended up as a poor afternoon for ten-man Tottenham as City quickly, and rather easily, brushed them aside to scoop a 4-1 win to keep themselves on track with Chelsea. Some decisions went against Mauricio Pochettino’s men, but for the most part their ratings reflect the performance.

Hugo Lloris 6/10 –

Was little he could do about the goals, but did well to save Aguero’s first half penalty.

Eric Dier 5/10 –

Asked to fill in in a slightly less familiar right-back slot, but was ineffectual and powerless to stop City’s rampage.

Federico Fazio 4/10 –

Harsh to have been sent off, but his needless foul led to yet another penalty that put the visitors even further behind.

Younes Kaboul 4/10 –

There were times when Kaboul looked as though he needed a prayer. Not good enough for the captain of a club with Champions League aspirations.

Danny Rose 5/10 –

Had his moments when going forward, but couldn’t do enough to make the side anymore threatening.

Etienne Capoue 6/10 –

Kept things ticking along in Tottenham’s engine room for the most part, but ran out of steam in the second period.

Ryan Mason 6/10 –

Very bright, got forward well but still clearly finding his feet at this level.

Nacer Chadli 5/10 –

Wasn’t able to push on from his good start to the season, but played his part in Tottenham’s goal.

Christian Eriksen 7/10 –

Took his goal wonderfully well, Tottenham’s best player by a country mile.

Erik Lamela 5/10 –

Gave away a soft foul for the first penalty

Roberto Soldado 4/10 –

Oh dear. If he’s missing penalties now how on earth will he ever score again?

Subs:

Moussa Dembele 5/10 – Added more thrust, but not enough.
Jan Vertonghen 6/10 – Came on to shore up the leaky back line and should have been on from the start.
Andros Townsend 5/10 – Showed why he can’t get into the team, but did win a penalty that could have turned the tide slightly.
