Another exciting round of weekend Premier League fixtures saw title contenders Manchester City keep pace with Chelsea at the top, while Southampton recorded their record win against Sunderland…
Here’s our five biggest winners from Saturday and Sunday.
5) Graziano Pelle – Southampton
Is the Italian forward the signing of the season? Quite possibly. His well-taken brace helped Southampton put an astonishing eight past Sunderland, who simply couldn’t deal with the striker’s strength and movement up top. Not a bad shout for the Golden Boot at 20/1.
4) Filipe Luis – Chelsea
The Brazilian summer signing is a winner from this weekend’s round of fixtures because he might now get a run of matches, because the man blocking his path to the first-team, Cesar Azpilicueta, got himself sent off and earned a three match ban. Filipe Luis could make the position his own.
3) Raheem Sterling – Liverpool
His team were woeful, but Sterling was back to his dynamic and potent best. Countless dribbles through the centre tired QPR, and he played a part in all three of Liverpool’s goals. Potentially world-class.
2) Oscar – Chelsea
A superb free-kick and a creatively outstanding performance saw Oscar earn Man of the Match versus Crystal Palace, and helped the Blues remain firmly at the top of the Premier League table.
1) Sergio Aguero – Manchester City
Aguero scored four goals to help City thrash Spurs, and would have made it five had he bagged a missed penalty. The little Argentine proved yet again why he’s one of the very few genuinely world-class players in the top flight.
