Mesut Ozil

Whilst the level of criticism of the German has perhaps gone a tad ‘over the top’ it’s undeniable that the former Real Madrid man hasn’t come close to justifying the £42.5m invested in his services. Far too often anonymous, guilty of slowing up attacks and hugely ineffective, time out on the sidelines with an injury may well have saved him the indignity of being dropped.

Nacho Monreal

Spaniard has impressed in patches but even as a back-up to Kieran Gibbs his failings are clear for all to see, often error prone and isn’t a player worthy of a side who are genuinely looking to win major honours.

Abou Diaby

Injury prone doesn’t even come close to covering it. The French midfielder hardly delivered the goods when fighting fit and is now pretty much a useless member of Arsene Wenger’s squad and if any club offers even a nominal fee for his services then Arsene Wenger would surely ‘take the money and run’.

Lukas Podolski

German can’t even get a Premier League start when both Theo Walcott and Olivier Giroud are out injured so what chance does he have when they are back in action? The arrivals of Danny Welbeck and Alexis Sanchez must surely have sent the message to the former Koln man that he is simply not part of Arsene Wenger’s plan, ideally that would have led to Podolski pushing himself to prove what he is capable of but he seems to have given in to some extent. A sale is best for all concerned.

Joel Campbell

Costa Rica international impressed at the World Cup and had a superb season at Olympiakos last term, ushered into the first team set-up accordingly, when called upon the youngster has rarely looked the part and a move away could be one that suits all parties.

Mathieu Flamini

Very one dimensional. No questioning his commitment but the French tough tackler is not a rounded performer and is an enforcer who hasn’t got much in the way of pace and is often over-run. Not good enough.

Ryo Miyaichi

Arrived on the scene as a player who appeared to have it all but now, almost four years since he moved to the north London club, he is still yet to deliver in any way, shape of form. Currently out on loan back in Holland, where he proved successful previously, would be a surprise if the Japanese international were ever to play for the club again.

Francis Coquelin

Utility player of very decent quality but at 23 years of age he can no longer use ‘youth’ as an excuse as to why he hasn’t made the grade.

Olivier Giroud

Even prior to his recent injury the French forward had his fair share of detractors and when comparing the Arsenal front-man with those talents leading the line of top level opposition it’s pretty clear Giroud isn’t up to scratch. The 28 year old is hardly prolific and looks positively one dimensional when compared to the likes of Sergio Aguero, Robin Van Persie, Diego Costa and Daniel Sturridge.
