Here are the top eight goalscoring keepers ever to have played the game:

8) Peter Schmeichel – 13

The first ever Premier League goalscoring keeper, the former Manchester United man was never afraid to head up the pitch to secure a last minute equaliser.

7) Hans-Jorg Butt – 32

Butt was a penalty specialist who spent most of his career in the Bundesliga. He will always be remembered for one particularly hilarious moment, Butt scoring from the spot before being immediately beaten by a long shot straight from kick off while he was jogging back.

6) Jorge Campos – 34

The uniquely talented Mexican was predominantly a goalkeeper, but would often switch mid game to a striker. He scored some outrageous goals, many a world class forward could only dream of scoring.

5) Johnny Vegas Fernandez – 39 (View from 1:55)

Scoring 30 penalties and nine outfield goals in his career so far, the Peruvian is still playing at 38-years-old. He has moved around a lot and played for many different clubs, rarely staying more than a season in one place.

4) Rene Higuita – 41

Higuita is known worldwide for his famous scorpion kick save against England in 1995, but the Colombian would also regularly make runs up field, and was on occasion the first choice free kick taker.

3) Dimitar Ivankov – 42

A former Bulgarian international, Ivankov was a superb penalty taker, and became the third highest scoring keeper in a comparatively short space of time.

While many keepers have careers spanning over 20 years, Ivankov retired relatively early. He could easily have added to his tally if he continued a little longer.

2) Jose Luis Chilavert – 62

The Paraguayan was one of the greatest keepers ever, known equally for his goalscoring prowess and his shot-stopping abilities.

He holds the record for the most international goals by a goalkeeper (9), and is also the only goalkeeper ever to score a hat-trick.

1) Rogerio Ceni – 123

We are unlikely to see a goalscoring keeper like Rogerio Ceni ever again, with the Brazilian scoring a record 123 goals in his lengthy career; totally eclipsing everyone else on this list.

He holds the record for highest number of free kicks scored by a keeper (60), as well as for the highest number of penalty conversions by a goalkeeper (61).
