Chelsea aren’t a bad side are they?

5) Didier Drogba can still score…

Drogba’s 23rd minute penalty was his first goal since his return to Stamford Bridge in the summer. While not looking the force he once was, at least he cans still put it in the net – (provided Eden Hazard lets him take them!)

4) Chelsea could be reliant on the Ivorian legend, following Loic Remy’s injury…

The injury to Remy will leave Jose Mourinho very concerned. Coupled with Diego Costa’s hamstring problem, it means that Chelsea could be going to Manchester United with Drogba as their only recognised striker.

3) Eden Hazard is pretty good…

Hazard bagged two, forced an own-goal, and was a dynamic menace throughout. His performance proved that he’s up there with the very, very best in world football.

2) Jose Mourinho will still be hard on his best player…

Even with all that hard work, Hazard still came in for criticism from his manager. His sentimental decision to let Drogba take the first penalty was looked down on by Mourinho, who wants his players to be the ultimate professionals.

“I was surprised [Hazard gave Drogba the penalty],” he said.

“I was not particularly pleased, Hazard is first choice for penalties. But it was a goal, so I was happy for that,” the Express reported.

Thankfully, Drogba scored!

1) Chelsea could Be Genuine Contenders

Even though this victory was against a very poor Maribor side, it did show just how good Chelsea are. Even against a team who will have come looking to defend, they tore them apart. Could this be the year that Chelsea add to their solitary Champions League win?
