Ten Premier League Signings We Are Yet To See The Best Of Including Man United New Boy & Liverpool Trio

Luke Shaw has promised Man United fans that they are yet to see the best of him…

Following Manchester United’s 2-2 draw with West Bromwich Albion earlier this week, full-back and new signing Luke Shaw, spoke to reporters about his continuing belief that the Old Trafford were yet to see him play at his best.

Of course, he’s not the only summer signing struggling to adapt to life with their new Premier League club. Here are CaughtOffside’s top ten:

10) Emmanuel Riviere (Newcastle United)

Yet to find the net in a Premier League fixture since his £6m move from Monaco, although did at least score twice against Crystal Palace in the League Cup. Doesn’t look the answer to Alan Pardew’s problems at Newcastle.

9) Rickie Lambert (Liverpool)

Desperately short on form and confidence, causing him to look well out of place at new club Liverpool – who he joined from Southampton last summer. No goals in any competition, and several lethargic performances are all he has produced thus far.

8) Christian Atsu (Everton)

The on loan Chelsea winger looks lightweight and not yet ready for Premier League football. Manager Roberto Martinez was recently forced to come out in defence of his new player, following the club’s difficult start to the season.

7) Eliaquim Mangala (Manchester City)

The giant Frenchman looked impressive on his City debut, but his performances have gone downhill since then, and City fans are still waiting to see him at his dominant best. He’s yet to live up to his huge £32m price tag.

6) Didier Drogba (Chelsea)

A Stamford Bridge legend he may be, but the Ivorian has looked under-par and unfit so far this season, as he struggles to keep pace with the Premier League at the age of 36. Certainly nothing more than a bit-part player these days.

5) Dejan Lovren (Liverpool)

Looks well short of the player that Liverpool paid £20m for in the summer. Has not done anything to help solve the Reds’ defensive woes from last season, and if anything they look more vulnerable with the Croatian in their side.

4) Rio Ferdinand (Queens Park Rangers)

While we’re on the subject of under performing centre backs, QPR’s Rio Ferdinand has had a fairly miserable time since joining the club from Manchester United in the summer. He was dropped from the team that played Liverpool last weekend.

3) Shane Long (Southampton)

Despite all the success Southampton are enjoying at the moment, they’d still like to be seeing more from their big money signing, who is yet to score in nine appearances for the club. He needs desperately to get off the mark.

2) Luke Shaw (Manchester United)

The most expensive teenager in football history as somewhat failed to live up to his billing so far. He is of course still young, and has struggled with injury issues during the early part of the season, but was the first to admit that he needed to begin showing signs of improvement.

1) Mario Balotelli (Liverpool)

The controversial Italian striker has struggled to make an impact for the Reds this season, scoring just once in all competitions – with that goal coming in the Champions League against Ludogorets. He has looked off the pace and out of touch.
