Tottenham Hotspur Player Ratings From Win Over Asteras Tripolis: Kane And Lamela Shine As Spurs Run Riot

How did the Spurs players rate in their Europa League win?

Tottenham Hotspur have recovered their Europa League campaign this evening with a comfortable 5-1 win over surprise group leaders Asteras Tripolis at White Hart Lane, a result that came largely thanks to two world class strikes from record signing Erik Lamela and a Harry Kane hat-trick.

With Besiktas also having won comfortably in Serbia against Partizan Belgrade, the Turks join Spurs as favourites to progress to the knockout stages, but they will need to be careful in Tripolis in two weeks’ time.

Here is how rated Pochettino’s men this evening:

GK) Hugo Lloris 6 – Lloris was largely quiet but absolutely immense when called upon, making one outrageous save in the second half that defied belief – but his sending off at 5-0 was awful judgement. A mixed night.

RB) Eric Dier 6 – A quiet night from young right back Eric Dier who offered little going forward but was solid at the back.

CB) Federico Fazio 5.5 – Caught out far too easily by Asteras’ passes over the top but a fine assist for the fifth goal.

CB) Jan Vertonghen 6 – A quiet but solid night from the Belgian international at the heart of the Spurs defence.

LB) Ben Davies 5.5 – Really struggled at the back, but the Welsh youngster redeemed himself with some fine attacking play.

CM) Etiene Capoue 7 – The Frenchman played well and finally seems to be the man establishing himself as Spurs’ holding midfielder.

CM) Moussa Dembele 6 – Less eye-catching than Capoue but helped his team to comfortably control midfield.

ARM) Andros Townsend 6 – It was a quiet night from England international Andros Townsend as other attacking players caught the eye.

ACM) Harry Kane 9 – A stunning performance from young Kane, playing just off Emmanuel Adebayor, who scored a wonderful hat-trick before finding himself in goal at the end.

ALM) Erik Lamela 9 – Deserves his rating of nine purely for two of the finest goals you could hope to see all season.

SC) Emmanuel Adebayor 7 – Worked very hard, held the ball up well and linked play but is clearly lacking confidence in front of goal.

MAN) Mauricio Pochettino 8 – Sent a strong team out and they hauled his side right back into the group.
