(Video) Tottenham Hotspur 5-1 Asteras Tripolis: Kane Stakes His Claim As A Striker But Not A Goalkeeper

Tottenham got their Europa League campaign back on track after hammering Asteras Tripolis at White Hart Lane.

Tottenham Hotspur jumped above Greek Super League outfit Asteras Tripolis in their Europa League group after thrashing them at White Hart Lane this evening, with Mauricio Pochettino’s side joining Besiktas on five points after they hammered Partizan Belgrade in Serbia.

It was a night that was lit up by two players in particularly, young forward Harry Kane and record signing Erik Lamela, who scored all five goals between them – the first coming when Asteras failed to close Kane down when the ball was played to him 25 yards out, allowing the former Leicester City and Leyton Orient loanee to drill a shot into the far corner.

It was Lamela who would add the third goal for Mauricio Pochettino’s side and, although it wasn’t quite as eye-catching as his first goal, the former AS Roma man was able to score another incredible ball, volleying a high ball into the near post with incredible power and accuracy:

There was still more time for Kane to hit the headlines, however, as goalkeeper Hugo Lloris had a rush of blood to the head at 5-0 and came charging out of his goal, taking out an Asteras striker and receiving his inevitable marching orders, meaning he will be suspended for the return leg in Greece. With Pochettino having used all of his substitutes by this point, Kane donned the gloves and didn’t put any pressure on reserve ‘keeper Michel Vorm for his place in Tripolis after a howler allowed the visitors to seal a consolation goal:

Neither Tottenham nor Kane will worry too much about that, however, as they moved level with Turkish side Besiktas at the top of their group ahead of a second clash against Asteras in a couple of weeks’ time.
