Chelsea vs Man United Combined XI: Blues Outweigh Red Devils Presence Heavily, But Rooney Sneaks In

A combined XI featuring players of Chelsea and Man United.

With the two Premier League heavyweights set to clash this weekend, it is fair to say the Londoners are having a much better time of it at the moment. With that in mind they have chalked up a considerable presence in this combined XI. That’s not to say that United don’t have any good players, but taking into account how well they’re all playing, and where their respective places in both teams aids their progress as the season continues to take shape.

GK: Thibaut Courtois – Chelsea

Though there are three excellent goalkeepers in consideration for the nod, it’s the young Belgian that wins out.

LB: Cesar Azpilicueta – Chelsea

Despite playing out of position, the Spaniard is still a better option than messieurs Shaw and Felipe Luis.

CB: Phil Jones – Man United

The rubber-faced defender sneaks in ahead of England cohort Gary Cahill, who has been somewhat off colour so far this term.

CB: John Terry – Chelsea

Still as influential as he’s ever been, the veteran stopper would also be handed the armband of this make believe squad.

RB: Branislav Ivanovic – Chelsea

The marauding right-back is head and shoulders the best option in this position, no one else even comes close.

CM: Nemanja Matic – Chelsea

Hands down the best defensively minded midfield player in the Premier League. Gets the nod over Daley Blind.

CM: Cesc Fabregas – Chelsea

Next to Matic, Fabregas is given the opportunity to direct the game as he wishes, and for the majority of the season has been lethally effective.

RW: Angel Di Maria – Man United

The Argentine is likely to be the only player in the Premier League that Chelsea wish they had. Has begun life well in England.

LW: Eden Hazard – Chelsea

Now that the burden has been taken off him to score and create, fans are finally starting to see what the talented Belgian is really all about.

ST: Diego Costa – Chelsea

There was never any doubt that he wouldn’t be included, has set the Premier League alight so far.

ST: Wayne Rooney – Man United

Rooney has been in good form this season, despite those around him not being on the same wavelength. Gets in just ahead of Robin Van Persie and Radamel Falcao.
