5. Arjen Robben – Bayern Munich

Another flying winger from the lowlands, Robben did it ten years before Hazard did, and though the young Belgian will hope to Emulate Robben’s success he won’t want to emulate his quick exit from Stamford Bridge. Robben is primarily a left winger, but is often at his best on the opposite flank, where he can twist and turn opposition defenders the wrong way, something that Hazard has yet to master.

4. Franck Ribery – Bayern Munich

Robben’s teammate at Bayern, the French ace often operates on the opposite flank to the Dutchman as an inverted winger, thus allowing Robben to cut inside and unleash fearsome low drives. He is a menace around the box, with his fantastic awareness and eye for a pass also allowing him to play others in on goal, as well as manufacture chances for himself, who can count himself unlucky to have never been a winner of the Ballon d’Or, something that Hazard will look to take advantage of in the near future.

3. Zlatan Ibrahimovic – Paris Saint Germain

There’s just no other player in the world like the Swedish superstar. When a player has won national championships in four separate countries and has played for the likes of Juventus, AC Milan, Barcelona, Inter Milan, Ajax and Paris Saint-Germain, you know you’re witnessing a special talent. He has an honour role that every footballer is envious of and possesses the audacity to attempt outlandish flicks/skills/shots at any given opportunity. A truly diverse football brain.

2. Lionel Messi – Barcelona

Described by Hazard as an ‘extra-terrestrial’, the Argentine is most definitely out of this world, and is arguably the greatest footballer to ever play the game. A four-time Balon d’Or winner and with the potential to collect even more. There is nothing Messi cannot do, and Hazard, in all likelihood, will get nowhere near what the 27-year-old has achieved.

1. Cristiano Ronaldo – Real Madrid

The only player that could best Messi in any sort of list, Hazard has picked Ronaldo as the world’s best player, and rightly so. The Ballon d’Or winner combines raw power, ridiculous skill, Olympic speed, goal scoring, free kicks, an unrivaled ability in the air and incredible shooting with either foot to leave you with the ultimate footballer. Already magnificent at Manchester United, the 29-year-old has somehow improved year in and year out since moving to Real Madrid in 2009.
