Today’s papers are linking Manchester United with a move for Zenit St Petersburg’s Argentina defender Ezequiel Garay, as they look to shore up their defensive issues, while Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira, 27, has dropped his wage demands to £80,000-a-week in order to ensure he seals his proposed transfer to Arsenal.

An Argentine defender who only joined Zenit from Benfica in the summer, but could have his attention drawn by the potential interest of Premier League side Manchester United.

The Argentine striker missed out on the Champions League this year after Napoli lost out in their qualifier earlier this year. Liverpool would love to bring the World Cup finalist to England.

8) Arda Turan (Atletico Madrid)

Veteran Turkish international who lit up La Liga last season as he helped Atletico Madrid shock both Barcelona and Real Madrid to win the title. Liverpool are admirers.

7) Mats Hummels (Borussia Dortmund)

Rated as one of the most dominant central defenders in the world, the German has endured a difficult start to the season with Dortmund, and could now be tempted into a move. Manchester United are desperate for his signature.

6) Sami Khedira (Real Madrid)

The German anchor man was chased by Arsenal and Chelsea last summer, with the Gunners particularly desperate for a holding midfield player.

5) Wesley Sneijder (Galatasaray)

A long-term Manchester United target who could finally make a move to the Premier League in 2015. The Dutchman’s future at Galatasaray looks bleak considering the Turkish side’s financial issues.

4) Karim Benzema (Real Madrid)

Highly rated French striker who showed his poaching abilities in the recent Champions League win over Liverpool. The Reds have been linked with the player as they seek out a new forward.

3) Arturo Vidal (Juventus)

Exceptional Chilean midfielder who is capable of playing in both an attacking and a defensive role. A long-term Manchester United target who was involved in a lengthy saga last summer.

2) Marco Reus (Borussia Dortmund)

German winger who missed out on the World Cup triumph through injury. Manchester City and Liverpool have both shown an interest in the exciting midfielder.

1) Edinson Cavani (Paris Saint Germain)

World class striker who has grown frustrated at playing second fiddle to Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Arsenal are among those that have been linked to the Uruguayan.
