Reports in the Guardian claim that Cleverley is among a number of Premier League stars who could be desperate to leave their respective clubs when their current loan deals expire. CaughtOffside counts down the top ten:

10) Nani (Manchester United / Sporting Lisbon)

The Portuguese winger was marginalised at United after several summer arrivals, and was grateful to return to his former club.

9) Ryan Bertrand (Chelsea / Southampton)

The England international was a starter in the Champions League final two years ago, but has recently struggled to find a place at Chelsea.

8) Javier Hernandez (Manchester United / Real Madrid)

The arrival of Radamel Falcao ensured that Hernandez would be, at best, a bit-part player at Old Trafford. He’s surprised his critics and done well at Madrid, and would love to make the move permanent.

7) Carl Jenkinson (Arsenal / West Ham United)

The defender made his England debut in 2012, but slipped down the Gunners pecking order since then. He’s yet to establish himself at West Ham, but is perhaps at a club more suited to him.

6) Victor Moses (Chelsea / Stoke City)

After a frustrating period in his career at both Chelsea and Liverpool, Moses has been given a new lease of life at Stoke City, and now looks the player he did at Wigan.

5) Micah Richards (Manchester City / Fiorentina)

A number of injuries and the arrival of a host of big-name players reduced Richards to part of the background at City. His switch to Italy is an intriguing one, and it will be interesting to see where he goes next.

4) Hatem Ben Arfa (Newcastle United / Hull City)

The Frenchman endured a massive fall-out with Newcastle manager Alan Pardew, and was made to train with the reserves. He will be hoping to prove his worth at loan club Hull.

3) Tom Cleverley (Manchester United / Aston Villa)

An established member of the United and England team under Sir Alex Ferguson, he fell out of favour with David Moyes, and new Red Devils boss Louis van Gaal was also unimpressed.

2) Lewis Holtby (Tottenham / Hamburg)

Spurs were hopeful that the signing of the exciting young German midfielder would help lead them in a positive direction, but he was something of a flop at White Hart Lane, and is now desperate to leave.

1) Fernando Torres (Chelsea / AC Milan)

The once fearsome Spanish striker endured a miserable time at Stamford Bridge, and that period finally came to an end when he joined Milan this summer. Surely he has played his last Blues game.
