Liverpool News And Rumour Roundup: Balotelli Could Be Sold Already, Suarez Backs Reds For Success And Belgium International Targeted

The biggest stories on Tuesday for the Reds.

Napoli interested in signing Liverpool flop Mario Balotelli

Less than two months into his Anfield career and Balotelli is already being linked with a move away from the club due to his poor form.

According to the Metro, Napoli are keeping an eye on the situation and are prepared to offer around £10m for the Italy international in the January transfer window.

This would see the Reds making a £6m loss in just six months, but with the 24-year-old looking devoid of form and confidence currently they may well be tempted.

Premier League clubs on alert as Zakaria Bakkali rejects new PSV Eindhoven contract

The Merseyside outfit join Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United in pursuit of the 18-year-old who looks to be edging nearer to a transfer away from the Eredivisie.

That is because – as the Daily Express reports – Bakkali has rejected the chance to extend his current deal at PSV and therefore they may look to cash in on the youngster.

There would be further competition for the teenager’s signature though as Atletico Madrid and Inter Milan are also interested.

FC Barcelona star Luis Suarez says Reds are in safe hands with Brendan Rodgers

Despite a poor start to the season Rodgers has received support from his former player Suarez in the forward’s new book.

The 27-year-old played for two years under the Northern Irishman before leaving for the Nou Camp and says that his ex-boss possesses tactical expertise.

“Liverpool are in very good hands with Brendan Rodgers. The way he coached us during my time there was impressive and I am sure that the methods I enjoyed and found so effective will continue to be employed,” Suarez was quoted by the Guardian.

Rickie Lambert says he and Balotelli can help end each other’s goal droughts

Since their summer arrivals from Southampton and AC Milan respectively, neither striker has managed to score a goal in the English top flight as yet.

Balotelli has one in the Champions League and Lambert is yet to open his account, but the England international believes it is only a matter of time before that changes.

“Mario’s like myself, we just need to get a goal. It depends how you are mentally. If you are OK and you stay calm – and sometimes that is hard to do – I’m confident it will come,” the 32-year-old was quoted by ESPN.

Assistant manager Colin Pascoe backs Lazar Markovic for success

Another who has failed to truly impress for the Merseysiders since a summer move is Markovic, who was a £20m purchase from Benfica.

However, the club’s assistant Pascoe says the 20-year-old just needs more time and that he has faith the attacking midfielder will come good.

“Lazar will definitely come good, he’s a quality player. That’s why we brought him in here. He’s working hard. He stays behind after training,” the Welshman was quoted by the Liverpool Echo.
