A composed and surprisingly competent performance from the Australian, who had no chance with the Swansea goal.

Excellent performance from the young Spaniard, who defended well and got forward to support attacks.

LB) Glen Johnson – 7

Put in a good performance to prove that he might still have time left at Liverpool.

CB) Kolo Toure – 6

A clean performance from the Ivorian defender, who lacks pace, but did little wrong.

CB) Dejan Lovren – 7

A good night for the Croatian, who topped off a decent defensive performance with the winning goal.

CM) Lucas – 6

You know exactly what you’re going to get from the Brazilian, who was a solid presence, if little more.

CM) Jordan Henderson – ?

Lead the team well as captain for the night, and came close with a couple of long range efforts.

AM) Philippe Countinho – 7

Another strong performance from the Brazilian, who put in the cross for the winning goal.

AM) Lazar Markovic – 5

Another underwhelming performance from the Serbian, who desperately needs to start producing.

ST) Fabio Borini – 7

A decent performance from the Italian, who set up his compatriot for Liverpool’s first goal.

ST) Rickie Lambert – 5

Lethargic display from the big man, who struggled to get into the game and is surely running out of chances.

Manager: Brendan Rodgers – 6

Got the result he wanted, and he will be encouraged with elements of the performance, if not the complete package.

Subs:

1) Adam Lallana – 6 – Came on for the final 20 minutes after Liverpool fell behind, and put in a decent shift.

2) Mario Balotelli – 7 – Got the goal he desperately needed, but we could have done without the antics with Shelvey.
