5) Simon Mignolet shouldn’t be dropped

There have been calls for the Belgian to be axed in the last few weeks, but his replacement Brad Jones didn’t exactly grab the position by the horns last night. It looks like Liverpool are stuck with him until at least January.

4) Lovren could still come good

The Croatian didn’t inspire defensively in the game, but his goal may have given him confidence. If the 25-year-old is able to build on that he still has time to justify his £20 million transfer fee.

3) Liverpool CAN come back from a goal down

Before Swansea scored Liverpool had possession but little cutting edge. However, as soon as Marvin Emnes put it in the net for the Welsh club, a sense of urgency came over the Reds’ attack. So far this season, conceding first has usually spelled the end for the Reds…

2) Rickie Lambert is not the answer…

While the Englishman may be a boyhood Liverpool fan, his time playing at the club has not been the fairytale that many hoped for. He was useless during the Capital One Cup Tie, and didn’t give any sign that this might be about to change.

1) …But Mario Balotelli might be

The Italian’s goal should  help with his fragile confidence, and if he is able to build on it, the 24-year-old might could start bagging more regularly. With Sturridge still injured, this will be vital for the red half of Merseyside over the next block of games.
