Manchester United’s Immense XI With January Signings, Including £37m Mata Replacement & Two New Centre-Backs

How United could line up with top transfer targets.

Manchester United continue to be linked with more big signings in the January transfer window, with Louis van Gaal ready to keep on spending after recruiting some big names during the summer.

It is clear that additions are still needed in defence, while some quality new attacking players could also still join the club as others make way, with this likely to be how the Red Devils could line up after their possible January spending:

Goalkeeper and defence:

Recently linked with two new signings at centre-back, it could be that United will bring in both Miranda from Atletico Madrid and Benedikt Howedes from Schalke to shore up their backline. This could then see Marcos Rojo move to left-back on a more regular basis after an unconvincing start to life at United from youngster Luke Shaw.

Midfield:

With Juan Mata being linked with the likes of Juventus and AS Roma, United could replace him with yet another quality attacking midfielder signing, with £37m-rated Arsenal target Julian Draxler supposedly top of van Gaal’s agenda as he eyes a double raid on Schalke. The German youngster could then fill that number ten role at the top of the midfield diamond.

Attack:

United will look largely the same upfront, with a permanent deal for AS Monaco striker Radamel Falcao likely to be a priority over any other possible signings in that department, with Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie rotating with the Colombian international.
