These transfers could help out a few teams

There have been some pretty big weaknesses exposed in certain teams this season. Arsenal and Manchester United made ambitious signings in the summer, but both have clear need for reinforcements in the mid-season transfer window.

10) Everton need a centre-back

With John Stones injured, Everton have been left short at the back, and have conceded 17 goals in 9 games so far. Both Sylvain Distin and Antolin Alcaraz have looked out of sorts, leaving captain Phil Jagielka as the only regular centre-back.

9) Burnley need a striker

Burnley have only scored five goals so far this season. Strike pair Sam Vokes and Danny Ings have been injured, both of whom were key to their promotion last season. Without much money in the transfer kitty this could be difficult for the Clarets.

8) Manchester City need a central midfielder

With Yaya Toure out of form, new signing Fernando not looking amazing, and Fernandinho not what he was last season, the Citizens haven’t hit the heights of the last campaign yet. The Sky Blues have recently joined the race to sign Sami Khedira to help this area.

7) Sunderland need something, anything

Sunderland have looked in trouble all over the pitch in the last few games, with an 8-0 loss to Southampton and 2-0 to Arsenal highlighting their weaknesses. They are poor at the back, but also toothless up front. With nothing rumoured at the moment, it could be a long season for the Black Cats if there’s no movement in January.

6) QPR also need something, anything

Harry Redknapp’s side have also been woeful this season, although a recent win against Aston Villa may be a sign of a turn around. They have scored only eight goals and have conceded eighteen in their first nine games. They have been linked to Clint Dempsey and Winston Reid to solve these problems.

5) Liverpool need a Goalkeeper

With the poor form of Simon Mignolet and backup Brad Jones not looking up to much, a new keeper is needed at Anfield. A move for Fiorentina’s Neto has been rumoured.

4) Tottenham need a striker

Currently relying on the motley trio of Emmanuel Adebayor, Roberto Soldado, and Harry Kane, Spurs are in need of someone who can put the ball in the back of the net. They have been linked to one of manager Mauricio Pochettino’s old charges, Jay Rodriguez.

3) Chelsea need a John Terry replacement

It isn’t that the skipper has been playing badly, it is that he is getting old. At 33 the Chelsea legend doesn’t have too many miles left on the clock. Kurt Zouma is already at the club, but the London club love to buy from outside and Gerard Pique has been linked.

2) Arsenal have got to get a defensive midfielder and a centre-back

The North Londoners have got a crisis at centre-back, and will need to sign someone in January to stop having to play Nacho Monreal in the back-line. A defensive midfielder has also been a must ever since one wasn’t signed in the summer. They have been linked to Borussia Dortmund defender Mats Hummels and Sevilla midfielder Grzegorz Krychowiak.

1) Manchester United need a centre-back

The Red Devils have one of the best front lines in world football, but are currently relying on recent youth team graduates at the back. Ezequiel Garay is the latest to be linked to Old Trafford.
