However, there have been some positives and here are their five statistically best players with stats courtesy of WhoScored.

5. Nacho Monreal – 7.24 rating

Many may just think of the Spaniard as just a relatively useful squad player, but according to this he has been much more prominent at the back than many more established defenders.

4. Mesut Ozil – 7.26

Once again the fans are on the back of the club record signing for under-performing and yet his stats seems to tell a different story – perhaps too much is expected of the Germany international.

3. Danny Welbeck – 7.49

Signed as a deadline day solution to the injury to Olivier Giroud and has settled at the Emirates Stadium fairly well, with two league goals to his name so far.

2. Mathieu Debuchy – 7.54

When Bacary Sagna left for Manchester City over the summer Wenger was quick to replace the right-back with this fellow Frenchman, who was proving to be an improvement before injury struck him down.

1. Alexis Sanchez – 7.62

For the second year running the Gunners spent big in the transfer market and this Chile international arrived from FC Barcelona in a £35m deal and has already made a big impression with five goals and two assists in the English top tier.
