Two fine players on their day in goal for the two teams, but Chelsea youngster Thibaut Courtois seems the better of the two at the moment, with the legendary Iker Casillas some way past his best now.

DR: Branislav Ivanovic v Daniel Carvajal
Two awesome right-backs and a very difficult choice indeed, with experienced Blues defender Branislav Ivanovic perhaps edging his younger counterpart here for being a more well-rounded player with more direct contribution to his team going forward.

A close call, but Real Madrid left-back Marcelo has to edge his Chelsea opponent here. The Brazilian is quality going forward and a big part of how Real play, while Luis has often rotated with Cesar Azpilicueta this season.

Although the Chelsea captain is a legend of the Premier League and still a great player, he is not at the peak of his powers, unlike Real’s Sergio Ramos, who is truly world class and a vital player for his club.

Unreliable and prone to moments of madness, Pepe is a good player but not as good as the ever-reliable Chelsea centre-back Gary Cahill, who is one of the best in Europe on his day.

Two superb deep-lying midfield playmakers, it is perhaps Real Madrid’s summer signing Toni Kroos who edges Nemanja Matic for a place here in terms of his overrall quality and ability on the ball.

Two energetic all-round midfield players, but again it is the Real Madrid star Luka Modric who looks to have more overrall quality than his Chelsea counterpart Ramires, who has not always been a regular for the Blues this season.

Two awesomely talented Spanish playmakers, but there’s no doubt that Chelsea’s Cesc Fabregas is among the best creative midfielders in the world right now, having shone tremendously since making the £30m move to Stamford Bridge this summer.

No contest here, Real Madrid wide-forward Cristiano Ronaldo is the best player in the world at the moment and is certainly superior in Chelsea’s Willian in every department.

A close call, but Real Madrid’s big Galactico signing James Rodriguez has been superb since joining the club from AS Monaco, following on from his fine form for Colombia at this summer’s World Cup. Eden Hazard, meanwhile, has looked a little off his game for Chelsea this season.
