How Man United will line up to take on Manchester City this weekend.
Last week’s encounter against Chelsea was huge, but it is this weekend’s clash with their cross-city rivals that will be a real test of how they’re progressing under Louis Van Gaal. Where Chelsea are running away with the title, the is something about City that suggests United can indeed catch them up. They will need to be at their best to do so, and here is how we think they’ll line up.

The Spaniard has been in good form so far this term, but will need to be at his best when coming up against the likes of Sergio Aguero.
LB: Luke Shaw
Shaw has been given a huge let off as it looks as though David Silva will be ruled out of the game through injury.
CB: Chris Smalling
The England star will come in for his international colleague, Phil Jones, and will look to get up to speed quickly.
CB: Marcos Rojo
Still set to appear through the middle due to the ongoing shortage of centre-backs.

The Dutchman will cover the back four, and they’ll need it to stem the flow of City’s attacks.

Di Maria will again be United’s main creative threat, but City will be aware of this and will have planned accordingly.

His tireless running will come in handy as he and Di Maria will look to get around a stout City midfield.
AM: Juan Mata
The Spaniard will get a reprieve thanks to the injury to striker Radamel Falcao.
ST: Robin Van Persie
After bagging a last gasp equaliser last week, he will be looked upon to find the net again by exploring the holes in City’s back line.
ST: Wayne Rooney
Making his return from suspension he will be moved forward from his favoured position to partner RVP up front as Falcao misses out through injury.
