This season is slowly starting to improve after a disappointing start and here are the five best players so far based on WhoScored statistics.

5. Jonny Evans – 7.31 rating

Red Devils fans seem to fluctuate on their opinion of this centre-back, with most generally dubbing him not good enough and yet the Northern Ireland international is among their best performers this term.

4. Daley Blind – 7.35

Arrived over the summer in a £13.8m switch from Ajax and has since looked solid in defensive midfield, even managing to get on the scoresheet during the 2-2 Premier League draw with West Bromwich Albion for his first goal for the club.

3. Ander Herrera – 7.51

Another new signing now, with Herrera eventually making the move to the Theatre of Dreams from Athletic Bilbao, having been previously touted by Moyes and has impressed when not injured with two league goals and one assist.

2. Phil Jones – 7.75

Defence has been a huge concern for United since the departure of Patrice Evra, Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic over the summer, but Jones has been trying to steady things and has looked solid in central defence.

1. Angel di Maria – 7.81

The standout performer has to be the British record £59.7m transfer di Maria, who has been among the best in the entire division and has scored an impressive three goals and provided four assists in seven matches so far.
