See below as we rank each of the Chilean’s signings from worst to best, with many looking unconvincing based on what we’ve seen so far:

10) Fernando

4.5/10 – Extremely disappointing so far, Brazilian midfielder Fernando doesn’t look the part so far since his summer move from Porto this year.

9) Eliaquim Mangala

5/10 – Considering the price paid for him, French defender Eliaquim Mangala looks fast like becoming an expensive flop at the Etihad Stadium based on what we’ve seen so far.

8) Bacary Sagna

5/10 – Another highly disappointing signing this season, experienced right-back Bacary Sagna was a top player for Arsenal, but has not replicated that form for his new club so far, dropping in and out of the starting lineup.

7) Willy Caballero

5.5/10 – A decent backup goalkeeper who shone in La Liga with Malaga, but who has not really looked like threatening Joe Hart’s place in the team so far this season.

6) Stevan Jovetic

6/10 – Clearly a talented player, but one who looks far too injury prone to be considered reliable, and another expensive purchase by Pellegrini that perhaps looks like not working out.

5) Martin Demichelis

6/10 – A player who has improved after a slow start, Martin Demichelis is a solid squad player, but perhaps one who could be improved upon for a club of City’s ambitions.

4) Alvaro Negredo

6/10 – 23 goals last season has to go down as a decent return, but Spanish striker Alvaro Negredo’s form tailed off badly towards the end of the campaign, and his loan move to Valencia this season suggests his time at the club may be up already.

3) Frank Lampard

6.5/10 – A smart loan signing, Frank Lampard has done fairly well for City so far this season, though at his age he cannot influence games the way he used to and is far from a long-term solution to the team’s issues.

2) Fernandinho

6.5/10 – A top class player who shone in his first season for City, Fernandinho has not looked quite the same so far this season. Arriving for a big-money fee, he will have to improve his form soon before being considered a relatively poor purchase.

1) Jesus Navas

7/10 – The best of the lot, Jesus Navas has looked an exciting player for City with pace, skill and a decent return in goals and assists. Still, even the Spaniard is not a regular in the team and has not significantly improved a team already full of talented attacking players.
