5) Petr Cech, Chelsea

Since Thibaut Courtois’ return to the club Cech has been relegated to second choice keeper at Chelsea. The 32-year-old still has many years left in him and could be on his way to somewhere he can play regularly soon.

 4) Raphael Varane, Real Madrid

The French international has been stuck behind Sergio Ramos and Pepe ever since he came to prominence in the game. Varane is far too good to be squandered on the bench and will surely get in to the first team before long.

3) Sami Khedira, Real Madrid

The World Cup winner has been left out in favour of Toni Kroos and Luka Modric for parts of this season. A move to the Premier League and more regular football is rumoured.

2) Xherdan Shaqiri, Bayern Munich

One of the highlights of the World Cup but now on the bench for Pep Guardiola’s side, Shaqiri has the potential to be one of the best players in the world. He will need regular football to do so though.

1) Lukas Podolski, Arsenal

The Germany international rarely starts for the Gunners despite his good goal scoring record. With 29 goals in 75 mostly substitute appearances he could lead the line for many top European sides.
