Argentina and Benfica star linked to Old Trafford move

Louis van Gaal is apparently ready to splash over £20 million on Enzo Perez, according to the Express.

The Argentina international is a central midfield battler, and has interested United since moves for Arturo Vidal and Kevin Strootman stalled. He has recently been attracting interest from Valencia and has a £23.5 million release clause.

The Red Devils will hope the presence of fellow Argentinians Angel di Maria and Marcos Rojo will pull Perez towards Old Trafford ahead of the Mestalla.

Robin van Persie on his way to Turkey?

The Dutch superstar could be in line for a shock move to Turkey with Fenerbahce, reports the Daily Star.

Apparently the Turkish club have been in touch with the 31-year-old about a January move. However, the striker has so far turned down the advances.

With his current poor run of form and injury problems there could be more interest in the summer though.

Marouane Fellaini reacts to spitting accusations

The Belgian has hit back at the allegations that he spat on Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero during the derby.

The 26-year-old sent out a tweet last night saying, “The press loves to invent the stories when there aren’t any. Thanks the journalist.”

There had been images showing Fellaini crouching over the City star during Sunday’s match, with what appeared to be saliva coming out of his mouth.

Rojo injury not as serious as first feared

The Red Devils will have been given a lift by the news that defender Marcos Rojo will not be out for as long as first thought, reports the Guardian.

The Argentine’s father told Argentinian TV, “It is not too severe. He will miss two or three games.” This is far less time than the minimum of six weeks that was feared.

This will be a boost to van Gaal with the defensive injury problems that the club have been facing in recent weeks.

Michael Carrick admits that United aren’t performing well enough

The Man United veteran has said that their points tally is not good enough so far this season, according to the Mirror.

The comments came after the Manchester derby, which the Red Devils lost 1-0. Carrick was forced to play as an emergency centre-back after Chris Smalling was sent off.

The 33-year-old said, “We look at our points total and we’re bitterly disappointed with the amount of points we’ve got. It’s nowhere near good enough for where we want to be.”

He did add that the team should improve in that department soon.

“But if you look deeper than that there are certainly signs that we’re still going to have a good season.”
