Premier League One Club Legends – Arsenal Defender And Manchester United Stalwart Challenging Steven Gerrard

With Steven Gerrard possibly leaving Liverpool, the one club man seems a dying breed

With Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard reportedly being told that he will have to take a huge pay cut if he wants to stay on Merseyside, there might not be many players left who stick with their original teams throughout their careers.

In reaction to this, the Sun has made a list of the players who have a chance of rivalling the Reds legend for the title of best one club man.

Aston Villa,  Gabriel Agbonlahor

Agbonlahor made his debut for the Midlands side in 2005, and except for some short lived loan spells has been there ever since.

Now 28-years-old, with 320 appearances and 80 goals, the striker is well on his way to becoming a club legend.

Arsenal, Kieran Gibbs

It turns out the Gunners longest serving player is left-back Gibbs. Having got through 157 games at the age of 25, he has a long way to go if he wants to rival Gerrard.

Burnley, Kieran Trippier

Joining the club after failing to make an appearance at Manchester City following graduating from their academy, Trippier has gone on to become a fan favourite.

However, at 24-years-old and with clubs circling should the Clarets go down, he may not stay a one club man forever.

Chelsea, John Terry

The man they call “captain, leader, legend,” rivals even Gerrard for the title of best one club man. He has made 631 appearances for the London team.

Everton, Tony Hibbert

Hibbert is a true one club man, having never even left the Toffees on loan and gaining 324 appearances for the club.

Honourable mention goes to Leon Osman, who does have more caps than the right-back, but also went out on loan earlier in his career.

Leicester City, Andy King

A key part of the team’s rise from League One to the Premier League, King turned professional at Leicester in 2006. He has since played 282 games, scoring 54 goals.

Manchester City, Micah Richards

The England international is the only current on club man at the Citizens – even he is now on loan at Fiorentina.

With all the money that has been spent, and that will be spent in the future it is unlikely that there will be any real one clubbers around for a while at the Etihad Stadium.

Manchester United, Darren Fletcher

Proffessional at the club since 2003, the Scot would have far more than his 334 appearances if he hadn’t spent a long time out with illness.

Newcastle United, Steven Taylor

The Toon stalwart has been playing since 2003 and has been through all the ups and downs of Newcastle since then.

With 251 appearances at the age of 28, his amount of games has been cut down by injuries.

West Ham United, Mark Noble

The Hammers’ local born player has been at the club through thick and thin, and is now living it up as West Ham enjoy a great start to the season.
