The exhilarating Theo Walcott has finally returned to fitness, and Arsenal fans will be keen to see him starting matches in the Premier and Champions League soon.
Here’s how the Gunners could fit the Englishman back into a strongest starting XI, not including the current long-term injuries.
GK) Wojciech Szczesny
With David Ospina still out, the Polish no.1 is a guaranteed starter.
DR) Calum Chambers
Mathieu Debuchy remains a long-term absentee, meaning summer signing Chambers is deputising at right-back.
DL) Kieran Gibbs
Gibbs has returned to fitness, and provides an impressive attacking threat up the left.
DC) Per Mertesacker
The only naturally fit centre-back at the club now, Mertesacker marshals the defence.
DC) Nacho Monreal
The Spaniard is naturally a left-back, but with Laurent Kosicelny out, he will be used alongside Mertesacker for the time being.
DMC) Mikel Arteta
Arteta as a deep-lying playmaker at the base of midfield for the Gunners.
MC) Aaron Ramsey
Ramsey’s struggled with injuries himself this term, but is approaching full fitness, and walks into the starting XI when healthy.
MC) Jack Wilshere
Like Ramsey, Wilshere’s injuries continue to plague his development, but he’ll start in the midfield three when fit.
AMR) Theo Walcott
The Englishman provided Arsenal with pace, dynamism and goals from the right wing – and he’ll hope to do the same now fit.
AML) Alexis Sanchez
Sanchez can play either up top on his own, or as an inside forward, starting from the left. His work-rate and tenacity has been crucial for the Gunners since arriving in the summer, and he’s easily their Player of the Season so far.
FC) Danny Welbeck
Welbeck provides further pace and finishing up top, and the trio of himself, Walcott and Sanchez could tear teams to shreds.
