The striker known as ‘Chicharito’ completed the loan switch to Los Blancos over the summer and has admitted that coming to the Spanish capital is a dream come true and something that he doesn’t want to end next summer.

“When I got the opportunity to come to Real Madrid I didn’t hesitate,” Hernandez told ESPN.

“It was the toughest challenge [I was offered] and the one that gave me the least chances [of first-team football], but these are the challenges I like and the ones I’ve worked for all my life. I dreamed of being here.

“I have the talent and I’ll work hard to show I belong at such a great institution. I hope some positive things happen, both to the club and myself.”

Since arriving at Madrid the Mexico international has scored four goals in eight appearances and is clearly enjoying life in La Liga even if he is not a regular starter.

Red Devils manager Louis van Gaal decided that Hernandez was not in his plans at Old Trafford following the arrival of Radamel Falcao on-loan from AS Monaco and it brought to an end four years of success at the club for the 26-year-old.

The forward played 154 times for United in all competitions, scoring 59 goals and winning the Premier League title twice.
