1) Mats Hummels (Borussia Dortmund)

A world class centre-back being linked with the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United, there’s no doubt Borussia Dortmund defender Mats Hummels would make a great signing to solve City’s leaky defence at the moment, and possibly for a reasonable price at £30m.

2) Miranda (Atletico Madrid)

Another big-name defender attracting plenty of intereat, Atletico Madrid’s Miranda would surely make an improvement on City’s current options at the back, and may be available for just £18m.

3) Isco (Real Madrid)

One of the best young playmakers in the world, Isco was linked strongly with Manchester City last summer before he eventually joined Real Madrid. Having played under Manuel Pellegrini at Malaga, the Spaniard may be tempted to do so again and would surely be an improvement on the likes of Samir Nasri and James Milner in attacking midfield.

4) Marco Reus (Borussia Dortmund)

A similarly creative attacking midfield player City could look to sign, Marco Reus is likely to be available for just £20m next summer and is reportedly on the club’s radar, though the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United are all chasing him as well.

5) Karim Benzema (Real Madrid)

With the likes of Edin Dzeko and Stevan Jovetic failing to provide much high-quality competition for star striker Sergio Aguero, City would be wise to target Real Madrid’s prolific French finisher Karim Benzema, who may be available for around £38m and who is also wanted by Arsenal and Liverpool.
