How the Spurs players rated in their Europa League victory over Asteras Tripolis.
Tottenham Hotspur are on the verge of qualification for the knock-out stages of the Europa League this evening after a relatively comfortable win over Greek minnows Asteras Tripolis, although they had some wayward finishing to thank from the hosts on their way to a 2-1 victory.

This is how we rated Mauricio Pochettino’s side in their victory:
GK) Michael Vorm – 6 – Deputising for the suspended Hugo Lloris, Vorm was largely untroubled but a little dodgy from crosses once or twice.
RB) Eric Dier – 5 – Offered very little going forward and was the man regularly exposed by Asteras at the start of the second half.
CB) Federico Fazio – 4 – The Argentine was largely solid but can be troubled by a ball in behind due to his lack of mobility, as was horribly shown when he was sent off late on.
CB) Jan Vertonghen – 5 – The Belgian has been out of sorts all season and was again here, beaten by Asteras fowards on more than one occasions.
LB) Ben Davies – 7 – Davies was the only member of the Spurs back four to impress, making some fine runs into attack.
CM) Benjamin Stambouli – 6 – Tidy on the ball, Stambouli is a solid rather than spectacular performer.
CM) Moussa Dembele – 6 – As with his midfield partner Stambouli, Dembele was neat but not really dynamic enough to affect the game.
ARM) Erik Lamela – 5 – Lamela was complete ineffectual before he was withdrawn by Pochettino at the interval.
ACM) Christian Eriksen – 6 – As with many of his teammates, Eriksen was slightly off colour but didn’t make any noticeable errors.
ARM) Andros Townsend – 8 – Burst into life at the end of the first half, being brought down for the penalty, scoring it himself and then providing a fine cross for Harry Kane.
SC) Harry Kane – 8 – Continued to lead the line in the Europa League for Spurs and was excellent once again, working hard and scoring the winner with a fine header.
SUB) Roberto Soldado – 6 – Given a half of football to show his worth but never really got involved in the game.
SUB) Ryan Mason – 7 – Young Englishman Mason was the most effective of Tottenham’s midfielders after he came off the bench.
SUB) Paulinho – 5 – Thrown on to shut things down but failed as Asteras made things very nervy at the game.
MAN) Mauricio Pochettino – 6 – Will lead his team through to the next round but, once again, Spurs were largely underwhelming.
