Manchester City look to heading for an early Champions League exit…
Manchester City are on the verge of crashing out of the Champions League group stage, with a 2-1 defeat against CSKA Moscow leaving them bottom of their group with two games remaining.
Yaya Toure completely lost Seydou Doumbia for the opener and the striker was free to head home a left-wing free-kick. Dreadful, dreadful defending this from the Premier League champions:
Toure may have attracted plenty of criticism for his below-par performances so far this season, but he looked back to his best here. This is what City’s fans want to see from the Ivorian, this is what he’s capable of! A free-kick 25 yards out, Toure addressed the ball in familiar style before nonchalantly stepping up and whipping it into the top corner. Brilliant.
But they were soon behind again. Doumbia just loves scoring against Manchester City! He scored past Joe Hart again – the fifth time he’s netted past them! Gael Clichy was at fault this time, hooking a terrible clearance back across the face of his own goal, it was played through to Doumbia and he buried hard and low. Silence.
Things only got worse for City in the second-half, as Fernandinho and then Toure saw red, while the remaining nine-men were booed off at full-time.
