Gunners step up interest in Benfica star Talisca.

Arsenal are looking to beat Premier League rivals Manchester United and Chelsea to the punch when it comes to the signing of exciting 20 year-old striker Talisca, report the Daily Star, with the Brazilian set to spark a huge transfer war when he decides to move on from the Estadio de Luz either in January or next summer.

Talisca only signed for Benfica from Brasileiro club Bahia for a bargain fee of £3.4m in the summer, but a run of nine goals in ten games has meant that he has been elevated to a level where he is expected to become the next big money South American departure from the Portuguese Primeira Liga.

Noticing his huge potential, however, Jorge Jesus and Benfica were able to insert a £35m buyout clause into Talisca’s contract and are unlikely to settle for less than that if they are to part with one of the most exciting young talents in world football right now.

Indeed, the report suggests that Talisca’s form has meant that Benfica are set to offer him a huge new deal with an increased buyout clause of £50m, but the player’s representatives are waiting to see if interest in the player from Premier League clubs materialises into an offer.
