Liverpool Predicted Lineup v Chelsea For Premier League Clash With Kolo Toure Starting For The Reds

How we expect the Merseysiders to start at Anfield.

Arguably the biggest game of the Premier League weekend is Liverpool v Chelsea at Anfield, with Brendan Rodgers hoping to inflict the first defeat of the season on the table toppers.

Here is how CaughtOffside thinks the Reds will lineup.

GK – Simon Mignolet

Had a pretty solid game midweek against Real Madrid and with constant rumours of a new goalkeeper being bought to replace him, Mignolet will want to prove he should be the No.1.

RB – Javier Manquillo

Has had an inconsistent start to his career at the club since completing a summer loan switch from Atletico Madrid, but with Jon Flanagan injured and Glen Johnson failing to impress we think the 20-year-old will get another chance.

CB – Martin Skrtel

Has been one of the only real stalwarts in Rodgers’ starting XI and the Northern Irishman will be looking for the Slovakian to help boost the leaky defence.

CB – Kolo Toure

Was considered something of a joke by many fans until he marked Cristiano Ronaldo out of the game on Tuesday and with Dejan Lovren having been shaky we think the Ivory Coast international will keep his spot.

LB – Alberto Moreno

Of all the new signings made over the summer this left-back has been the only one to have truly impressed so far and his marauding runs forward could cause the Blues problems.

CM – Steven Gerrard

The captain was dropped to the bench against Madrid, but is expected to be recalled by Rodgers and the 34-year-old will be looking to make amends after a well publicised slip in this fixture last term.

CM – Jordan Henderson

Was also rested for the trip to the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu, but as one of the club’s best players Henderson should be back in the team without question – even with Emre Can and Lucas Leiva playing well.

RM – Raheem Sterling

Has struggled to find the form that was so exciting last campaign, but as one of Rodgers’ best attacking players the 41-year-old can not afford not to have Sterling in the lineup.

CAM – Philippe Coutinho

Was awarded the club’s Player of the Month award for October and the Brazilian is certainly impressing currently and we think he’ll get a rare chance in the No.10 role.

LM – Adam Lallana

Following a £25m summer move from boyhood club Southampton this England international is now starting to establish himself in Rodgers’ XI.

ST – Mario Balotelli

Although this Italian has failed to impress since a £16m transfer from AC Milan, with Daniel Sturridge still injured and Fabio Borini and Rickie Lambert the only other options we think the 24-year-old will start.
