9) Charlie Adam
Superb for Blackpool in the 2010/11 season, Charlie Adam later flopped at Liverpool and has never been more than decent for Stoke City since.
8) Roque Santa Cruz
A goal machine for Blackburn Rovers in the 2007/08 season, Roque Santa Cruz never did anything of note in England again, and hasn’t exactly shone during spells in La Liga either.
7) Stephen Ireland
A player who suddenly looked amazing throughout 2008/09 for Manchester City, it was only a flash in the pan for Stephen Ireland, who has since flopped at Aston Villa, Newcastle United and Stoke.
6) Antonio Valencia
Terrific in his first season at Manchester United as he struck up an instant partnership with Wayne Rooney, we just haven’t seen the same Antonio Valencia since.
5) Adrian Mutu
An exciting and skillful player who showed plenty of promise in his first season at Chelsea, Adrian Mutu was quickly ditched by the club the following year.
4) Aaron Ramsey
A controversial choice perhaps, but Aaron Ramsey’s form this season suggests the player we saw banging in the goals for Arsenal last term may have been something of a one-off.
3) Nikica Jelavic
In what looked like a superb signing by Everton, Nikica Jelavic hit the ground running when he made the move to Goodison Park, but has since looked incapable of scoring regularly at this level.
2) Papiss Cisse
Like Jelavic, Papiss Cisse was an instant hit when he moved to the Premier League in the 2011/12 season, scoring a series of superb goals including one of the best of all time away to Chelsea, but he has been nothing but a flop ever since.

With 22 goals in an incredible first season with Swansea City, Spanish striker Michu looked the real deal as he became linked with some of Europe’s biggest clubs, but he managed just 2 in the Premier League last season and is now doing precious little in a loan spell at Napoli.
