There are some truly fantastic stadiums being built at the moment, with venues for the upcoming European Championships and World Cups on the verge of being completed.

Here are six unbelievable stadiums currently under construction:

6) Stade des Lumieres

Olympique Lyonnais are set to complete their stunning new stadium in 2015 at some point, and it is already looking breathtaking.

The 58,000 seater will also be a venue for the UEFA European Championships in 2016.

5) Estadio La Peineta

Although the Vicente Calderon is practically synonymic with Atletico Madrid, due to their inability to develop and improve their current stadium the La Liga club have turned to the Estadio la Peineta.

The 67,500 capacity stadium will help accommodate their growing fan base.

4) Baku Olympic Stadium

Set to be an absolutely gorgeous looking stadium, the Baku stadium in Azerbaijan will even be able to change colours.

Boasting a capacity of nearly 70,000 it is sure to become an iconic stadium in world football.

3) New Zenit Stadium

A stadium that should have already been finished by now, construction delays have repeatedly set them back.

Originally planned to be finished in 2009, this eye catching 62,000 seater is now set for completion in 2015.

2) Nou Mestalla

Valencia’s new stadium will certainly be one of the more unique looking ones in the footballing world.

This 74,000 seater will be one of the biggest in La Liga.

1) Lusail Iconic Stadium

This monstrous stadium being built for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar will have a capacity of over 86,000.

The heat in Qatar is a real worry, but the Lusail Iconic Stadium is cooled by solar power.
