Check out our best team of the weekend from the final Premier League action before the upcoming international break:

GK) Brad Guzan (Aston Villa)

The American international has become undisputed number one at Villa Park since being re-signed by current manager Paul Lambert and showed why with a string of stunning saves in his side’s 0-0 draw at Upton Park.

RB) Cesar Azpilicueta (Chelsea)

Played at left back for Chelsea at Anfield, but slots in on the right for the purposes of this team. Azpilicueta was solid defensively against Liverpool and provided a fine assist for Diego Costa’s winning goal.

CB) Fabricio Coloccini (Newcastle United)

The Newcastle captain has been one of the fulcrums of the revival of Alan Pardew’s side – he was commanding at the back against West Brom and even headed home the clinching second goal.

CB) Ron Vlaar (Aston Villa)

Vlaar put in an utterly heroic display for his side as they held on for a 0-0 draw at Upton Park, with the Dutchman putting his body on the line for his manager and teammates.

LB) Luke Shaw (Manchester United)

Luke Shaw

Shaw has put in some shaky displays for Man Utd this season and been castigated for them, so it is only right that we hail his impressive, positive performance at left back as United beat Crystal Palace.

CM) Nemanja Matic (Chelsea)

The clunking, destructive figure of Nemanja Matic dominating central midfield was one of the key reasons that they were able to navigate a trip to Anfield so successful.

CM) Gylfi Sigurdsson (Swansea City)

Sigurdsson has been a revelation during his second spell at the Liberty Stadium, putting in a fine performance against Arsenal that was tapped off with a glorious free kick.

ARM) Shane Long (Southampton)

Shane Long has been perhaps the only summer Southampton signing to have disappointed so far this season – but the Irishman changed that with two fine goals against Leicester City.

ALM) Jefferson Montero (Swansea City)

Ecuadorian winger Montero has largely been on the periphery of things since signing for Swansea this summer, but he came of age against the Gunners, obliterating young Calum Chambers.

SC) Ayoze Perez (Newcastle United)

Ayoze Perez

Another summer signing who is really starting to find his feet is Newcastle forward Ayoze Perez, who ran West Brom ragged at The Hawthorns and scored a stunning flick to give his side the lead.

SC) Charlie Austin (Queens Park Rangers)

After a slow start, QPR striker Charlie Austin is starting to take to Premier League football – he had the ball in the net three times against Manchester City and also bagged a fine assist.
