Brendan Rodgers’ side already look out of the title reckoning for this season after a very poor start to the season, and it looks like more signings may be the answer to their problems for January.

Some big-name strikers have been linked to the club, and it will no doubt take someone of true class and ability to replace the incredible influence of Suarez on this Liverpool team.

These appear to be Rodgers’ six main targets to come in upfront, according to various recent reports:

6) Jackson Martinez (Porto)

An absolute goal machine in the Portuguese top flight, Porto striker Jackson Martinez has attracted the attention of several top clubs in recent times, with Liverpool the latest along with Arsenal to be strongly linked with a £30m bid for the upcoming January transfer window.

5) Saido Berahino (West Bromwich Albion)

One of the most promising young players in the Premier League at the moment, West Bromwich Albion striker Saido Berahino also appears to be on Liverpool’s radar this winter as they look for more suitable additions upfront.

4) Pedro (Barcelona)

Not strictly speaking a striker, but Barcelona wide-forward Pedro could operate well upfront for Liverpool, who are said to be weighing up a move for him this January. The experienced Spaniard is a proven goalscorer and may be available this season.

3) Gonzalo Higuain (Napoli)

Despite not being at his best so far this season, Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain is another superb and proven goalscorer, having shone for Real Madrid before moving to Serie A last season, going on to score 24 goals for the club in all competitions.

2) Edinson Cavani (Paris Saint-Germain)

A player not content with his current role in the Paris Saint-Germain team, Edinson Cavani has been linked on more than one occasion with a move to Liverpool as well as other top clubs, and there’s no doubt the Uruguayan would be a hugely ambitious target and great signing if the club could pull it off.

1) Karim Benzema (Real Madrid)

After scoring against Liverpool in the Champions League recently, Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema is also being linked with a switch to Anfield this January, with some reports saying a £38m deal looks likely for the Frenchman to complete a move to Merseyside, in what would make a terrific purchase for the Reds.
