The Blues brought in the likes of Diego Costa, Filipe Luis and Cesc Fabregas from Atletico Madrid and Barcelona in the summer, and are now monitoring more exciting purchases that could make their already-immense squad even better for years to come.

Some top class youngsters are among Chelsea’s main targets, while a hugely ambitious £90m bid for a Real Madrid star and Manchester United target is also high on the club’s list of priorities.

It remains to be seen if Mourinho can pull off all of these deals, but these four players seem to be in their sights at the moment:

1) Gareth Bale (Real Madrid)

According to the Metro, Chelsea could be lining up a sensational £90m bid to sign Real Madrid winger Gareth Bale, who has formerly lit up the Premier League with Tottenham Hotspur. Manchester United are also known to be interested in the immensely talented Welshman, who could be open to returning to the English top flight after trying his hand at playing abroad.

2) Sami Khedira (Real Madrid)

Another La Liga-based player on Chelsea’s radar is Bale’s Real Madrid team-mate Sami Khedira, who could be available on a free transfer next summer if he does not renew his current deal at the Bernabeu. However, the Daily Express claims that the German international may now be considering staying in Spain.

3) Aymeric Laporte (Athletic Bilbao)

According to Spanish source Fichajes.net, Athletic Bilbao defender Aymeric Laporte is another target for the Stamford Bridge-based club as they look to reinforce in defence. A possible long-term replacement for John Terry, the 20-year-old is one of the most highly rated young centre-backs in the game at the moment.

4) Raphael Varane (Real Madrid)

Another exciting young defender and Real Madrid player wanted by Chelsea, the Metro claims that a £19m deal bringing Raphael Varane to Chelsea this January could be in the works, in another superb deal by the Blues as they build for the future.
