Southampton’s battling French midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin has enjoyed a superb start to the season with the 2nd placed Saints, but has disappointed supporters by claiming he wants to move to a bigger club, reports French publication L’Equipe.

Here’s six clubs who should try to make his wish come true…

Arsenal

The most obvious of the clubs in this list is Arsene Wenger’s Gunners. They desperately need some grit and tenacity in the middle, with Mikel Arteta ageing and Mathieu Flamini lacking Schneiderlin’s technical ability. Fans are crying out for a crying like Schneiderlin, too.

Manchester United

Like Arsenal, United need raw energy, tackles and interceptions in the centre. Daley Blind is static, while Michael Carrick and Darren Fletcher need replacing. Ander Herrera is more of a creative midfielder, but Schneiderlin would provide something currently lacking at Old Trafford.

Tottenham

Mauricio Pochettino would no doubt love to be reunited with one of his key players from his Southampton days. Similarly, the player himself might be swayed towards Spurs because of his relationship with the Argentine.

Liverpool

Steven Gerrard is ageing and Joe Allen is physically a liability. Lining Schneiderlin up alongside Jordan Henderson and Emre Can in midfield could provide the Reds with the enthusiasm and pressing that brought them so close to a tile in 2013/14.

Manchester City

Few would have thought City would need the Frenchman having signed Fernando in the summer, but due to his average form – along with the average form of fellow Brazilian Fernandinho – Schneiderlin would get in City’s side right now. He’d provide some much needed bite to the centre of the park as well.

Southampton

The Saints should really move heaven and earth to convince him to stay. Surely it will be impossible for them to maintain their current levels if they continue to lose their best players as they did all summer. Schneiderlin is the heartbeat of the team – and they should make him the club’s highest ever paid player to keep him on the South Coast.
