Spanish giants eye long-term Arsenal target.
Real Madrid are weighing up a January bid to sign Lazio midfielder Lucas Biglia to bolster their depth in midfield, according to Spanish source Fichajes.net.
The experienced Argentine battler has also been linked several times with a move to Arsenal, with the Gunners recently thought to be back in for him this January.
Real are possibly set to lose Sami Khedira in the upcoming January transfer window, with the German international refusing to sign a new contract at the Bernabeu amid strong interest from a number of Premier League clubs.
Paris Saint-Germain youngster Marco Verratti is also thought to be on Carlo Ancelotti’s agenda, but with the Italian youngster key to the French side’s first-team plans at the moment, Biglia may be a more realistic option.
The 28-year-old is a highly regarded defensive midfield player, but has struggled to make an impression since joining Lazio from Anderlecht, finding himself in and out of the starting lineup at the Stadio Olimpico.
Biglia could then make a smart signing by Real on the cheap this January, as Ancelotti largely eyes a backup player for first-choice midfield pairing Luka Modric and Toni Kroos to enhance his squad options.
