The Future Of Marco Reus – Analysing Where The German Will Go With Arsenal And Manchester United Both Interested

Where does the future of the forward lie?

The future of Borussia Dortmund star Marco Reus continues to rumble on, with it well documented the Germany international has a £19.8m release clause that becomes active next summer.

Understandably Dortmund are trying to tie the 25-year-old down to a new contract that doesn’t include this, but as yet Reus hasn’t agreed a new deal at the Signal Iduna Park.

As one of the most highly rated players in world football currently it’s little surprise that some of the top sides in the world are keeping

Arsenal

The Gunners certainly have a strong German contingent at the Emirates Stadium and the likes of Per Mertesacker, Mesut Ozil and Lukas Podolski could certainly help convince Reus to join.

However, according to the Mirror the attacker has ruled out the North Londoners as he is worried that he won’t win any trophies there and as cruel as this sounds it’s a fair assessment.

Bayern Munich

It was Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge that originally made public the fact that Reus has a release clause written into his contract – something which has understandably made tensions between the two clubs even greater than before.

Rummenigge told Bild of the clause and the German may well be tempted by following in the footsteps of Mario Gotze and Robert Lewandowski by heading to the Allianz Arena.

Borussia Dortmund

Of course the attacker could decide to stay where he is and sign a new contract at the Westfalenstadion and put an end to the speculation.

However, with the Yellow and Blacks currently struggling in the Bundesliga Reus may well take this opportunity to cash in on his reputation and head to a club with more trophy ambitions.

Chelsea

Jose Mourinho is building something formidable at Stamford Bridge currently and although they have arguably the strongest squad in the Premier League their attacking midfield could be improved.

There are concerns with the likes of Mohamed Salah and Andre Schurrle and the Daily Mail reports that the Blues want to add Reus to what is already a world-class team.

Liverpool

There is great interest from England in the German which when considered he is one of the best players in world football, but could be available at a cut-price, is hardly surprising.

The Reds need a talisman in the mould of Reus having failed to fill the void left by Luis Suarez, but if they can’t secure Champions League football this year then there is very little chance of the Merseysiders getting him, as the Daily Star reports.

Manchester United

Many Red Devils fans would suggest Louis van Gaal should perhaps be concentrating on the defence and Dortmund players like Mats Hummels rather than looking to sign more attackers.

However, passing up a player of Reus’ capabilities would be foolish and as the Daily Express reports United certainly have the finances behind them to secure the deal off the pitch, but their performances on it need to get better first.

Real Madrid

Yet arguably the biggest and best club in the world currently probably hold the advantage should they choose to make an approach for the forward, but whether they need him is another matter.

The likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale, Isco and James Rodriguez all currently play in Reus’ position and one would probably have to leave the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu to make room for the German, according to talkSPORT.
