England’s Under-21 squad has suffered in the past with a number of the best young talent being brought into the Senior squad far earlier than they perhaps should have been. The current crop of players are looking fantastic however, and there are a number of quality youngsters who are surely future England stars.

Here are five of the best England Under-21 players with bright futures ahead of them:

5) Jack Butland – Stoke City

Currently on loan at Derby, Jack Butland is almost certainly the future England goalkeeper.

Already a regular in the squad, it is only a matter of time before the youngster usurps Joe Hart.

4) Will Hughes – Derby

Hughes has already attracted interest from a number of Premier League clubs, with the 19-year-old already approaching 100 caps for the rams despite his tender age.

Confident and assured on the ball, the youngster shows real class and is undoubtedly destined for a move out of the Championship.

3) Nathan Redmond – Norwich City

20-year-old Redmond has shown glimpses of real talent, and at times looked capable of making it in the Premier League before Norwich were relegated.

He has struggled with consistency, but if he can address that issue then he is sure to become a star.

2) Nathaniel Chalobah – Chelsea

England are crying out for a defensive midfielder at the moment, and for the last couple of years Chalobah has looked like the answer.

A lack of playing time at Chelsea or with his loan clubs have stunted his growth somewhat, but the youngster is definitely capable of being the rock in midfield that England need.

1) Saido Berahino – West Bromwich Albion

The West Brom star has arguably already made it, his fantastic goalscoring record with his club this season earning him a call up to the England squad.

He is being chased by a number of Premier League clubs with Liverpool leading the race, and has claimed that he will at some point need to leave West Brom to chase his dream of Champions League football.
