Rumours have surfaced today that Brendan Rodgers is under serious pressure at Liverpool, such is his team’s fall from grace this season.

If the Northern Irishman does get the boot – could any of these six managers come in and bolster the struggling Reds?

Jurgen Klopp – Borussia Dortmund

The German’s pedigree is undeniable. He’s won two Bundesliga titles, and has reached a Champions League final, too. He’s struggling badly this term though with Dortmund, and he could well do with a fresh challenge. Liverpool fans would appreciate his style of football and endearing personality.

Rafa Benitez – Napoli

A legend in Liverpool due to his achievements a decade ago now, winning the Champions League in his debut season on Merseyside. Benitez almost led the Reds to a title, but eventually left after fans became disillusioned with strange team selections and defensive football. Would they really want to see him back?

Rudi Garcia – AS Roma

Garcia is an extremely talented manager. He won the league in France, and is mounting a serious title challenge in Serie A right now with Roma. It’s time he’s given one of the elite jobs in world football – although Roma are arguably a better side than Liverpool right now.

Ronald Koeman – Southampton

Liverpool love buying Southampton players, so why not try and take their manager as well? Koeman’s started life in England exceptionally, but hasn’t managed a club yet with the expectations of the Reds.

Diego Simeone – Atletico Madrid

While fans of nearly every side in world football would love Simeone to take charge of their club – the Argentine might choose not to move to England because he can’t speak the language. Winning La Liga with Atletico though is a mesmeric achievement regardless.

Laurent Blanc – PSG

Blanc won Ligue 1 with PSG last term, but is reportedly under pressure this season due to the excellent start Marseille have made. The Frenchman plays passing football, and is a world renowned football figure. Could fans forgive the fact he played for Manchester United?
