We must confess that that the team isn’t quite completed with 10 injuries currently for manager Louis van Gaal, but you get the picture.

GK – David de Gea

The Spaniard has been one of the standout players once again for United this season, but the goalkeeper has damaged his finger and it could therefore mean a first appearance of the campaign for Anders Lindegaard.

RB – Rafael

Right-back is something of a problem area for van Gaal with this Brazilian the only natural option and when he has been fit his form hasn’t been that impressive in any case.

CB – Phil Jones

When actually on the pitch the 22-year-old has shown he could probably become a stalwart for the club, but Jones needs to start proving his fitness more consistently with a calf problem affecting him currently.

CB – Jonny Evans

With Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic both leaving Old Trafford over the summer it was the chance for Evans to finally prove his worth to the team, but injuries have prevented that from happening.

LB – Marcos Rojo

The Argentine dislocated his shoulder and has since had surgery and the 24-year-old has revealed himself that it will be at least another three to four weeks before he is back in contention.

RM – Jesse Lingard

Impressive loan spells in recent times suggested this winger could maybe break into van Gaal’s plans this term, but with Lingard currently suffering from a knee problem that won’t be happening any time soon.

CM – Michael Carrick

Missed most of the season through injury and returned very briefly before picking up another knock on international duty and Carrick’s fall from grace has been quite steep.

CM – Daley Blind

There was more bad news on Sunday as Blind injured his knee whilst on international duty with Netherlands and it looks like a lengthy spell out for the 24-year-old.

LM – Ashley Young

Started the campaign in the team, poor form saw him dropped and now fitness issues means Young’s chances of playing are even more remote than they ever were.

ST – Radamel Falcao

Leading the line is a striker on-loan from AS Monaco and considered among the best in the world, but needs to prove his fitness before the Red Devils make his move permanent.
