The 32 year old Czech Republic international has been a mainstay of the Blues first team set-up for a decade but the ushering in of Belgian keeper Thibaut Courtois following his three season stint at Atletico Madrid has effectively ended his Stamford Bridge career.

Arsenal are ready to pay £7m for Cech, a very reasonable fee, with Arsene Wenger looking to bring in quality player to fight Wojciech Szczesny for the Gunners starting spot.

Quite where such a move would leave new signing David Ospina, who moved to the Emirates Stadium in the summer, is another matter.

Cech is inth his eleventh season at Chelsea and this is the first of those campaigns where the former Rennes man hasn’t been the club’s first choice starter.

A move to Arsenal may well tempt Cech, especially if he feels he can unseat Szczesny to secure regular first team action.

Cech has made 475 appearances for Chelsea and has won a host of honours with the west London club including three Premier League titles, four FA Cup triumphs and a Champions League winners medal.
