Arsenal compete with Liverpool for the signing of Newcastle United wonderkid Rolando Aarons

The chase to sign the 19-year-old is hotting up as the Gunner become the latest side to show interest in Aarons, according to the Daily Star.

Manchester City are also keen on signing the teenager with the Newcastle starlet having impressed this season after breaking into the first team.

Aarons has 18 months left on his current deal at St James’ Park and therefore could be tempted into leaving the North East.

Glen Johnson set to leave Anfield after unacceptable new contract offer

The right-back has entered the final 12 months of his current deal with the club and is not happy with the extension offer the Reds have given him.

Johnson currently earns £120,000-a-week on Merseyside, but due to injuries and poor form the new contract is half that at £60,000-a-week, according to the Mirror.

The 30-year-old is therefore considering leaving next summer with Serie A outfit AS Roma thought to be leading the race for his signature.

Jordan Henderson is a doubt for Crystal Palace clash with a hamstring injury

Ahead of the Premier League encounter with the South London club on Sunday there are more fitness issues for manager Brendan Rodgers.

The Liverpool Echo reports that Henderson could miss the game at Selhurst Park due to a hamstring problem he picked up whilst on international duty with England.

Daniel Sturridge has already been ruled out of the match having suffered a setback in his rehabilitation from a thigh issue.

Sturridge’s fresh injury setback

The road to recovery has been a long and frustrating one so far for the striker as another problem delays his return to first team action.

BBC Sport reports that Sturridge injured his thigh on Tuesday and will have scans on the problem to determine the extent of this latest issue.

The 25-year-old has not played for the Merseysiders since August after originally picking up an injury whilst away with England.

Reds to make £25m January move for Chelsea forward Andre Schurrle

Schurrle is out of favour at Stamford Bridge under Jose Mourinho and the Germany international has been heavily linked with a move away from West London.

Now it seems as if the 24-year-old won’t be travelling too far with both Rodgers and Tottenham Hotspur vying for the signature of the 2014 World Cup winner, according to the Mirror.

Schurrle joined the Blues from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer of 2013, but has failed to truly establish himself at the club.
