Manchester United lead the race to sign Borussia Dortmund’s Mats Hummels

The Dortmund captain has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League in a £47m transfer.

According to the Daily Star it is the Red Devils who now lead the race ahead of rivals Arsenal, but the deal won’t be completed until next summer.

The club spent almost £150m on new talent over the summer and are therefore not looking to spend more in January.

United and the Gunners interested in Atletico Madrid’s Alessio Cerci

The Italy international is being linked with a move away from the Vicente Calderon Stadium less than six months after joining from Torino.

Cerci joined the Spanish champions for £13m, but is yet to start a match under Diego Simeone and the Daily Express says he could leave for England.

The 27-year-old has 14 caps for the Italian national team to date and has drawn interest from Man United and the North Londoners.

David de Gea set for Emirates Stadium clash despite finger injury

The goalkeeper dislocated his finger whilst on international duty with Spain and was expected to spend several weeks on the sidelines as a result.

However, the Daily Mail reports that de Gea will be back sooner than expected and could play against the Gunners on Saturday.

This will be music to the ears of manager Louis van Gaal who is suffering a selection headache currently because of the amount of injuries to his squad.

Angel di Maria to have x-ray on damaged foot

The midfielder picked up the problem whilst playing for Argentina during the 1-0 international friendly loss to Portugal on Tuesday.

Di Maria had his right foot trodden on by Red Devils loanee Nani and now needs the issue x-raying, but the 26-year-old is confident it is nothing serious.

“It was just a blow. I hope it doesn’t swell any more so I can play at the weekend,” the Argentine was quoted by the Guardian.

Man United will not be signing Victor Valdes says de Gea

With the No.1’s contract expiring in 2016 and him being heavily liked with a move to Real Madrid, many thought van Gaal would sign a replacement.

Former FC Barcelona goalkeeper Valdes has been training with the squad as he continues his recovery from a cruciate ligament injury, but de Gea says the 32-year-old will not be his replacement.

“Yes, my contract runs out in 2016. But they didn’t sign him for that,” the 24-year-old was quoted by the Mirror.
