Will They Go? January’s 15 Biggest Potential Transfer Targets And Their Likely Destinations, Including Arturo Vidal To Man United And Jackson Martinez To Liverpool?

They have been circled by rumours, but will these players be on the move in January…

Aren’t we sick of the same old transfer rumours circulating again and again? Well for you pleasure here they all are one last time. In a comprehensive list, we predict whether or not some of the summer’s failed movers could finally be switching clubs in the New Year.

15) Isco (Real Madrid)

Proved his worth to the Spanish giants over the course of Gareth Bale’s injury earlier this season, and will now surely stay put long-term despite interest from Manchester City.

14) Joao Moutinho (AS Monaco)

Talented midfielder who could realistically be the latest man to leave the Monaco exodus. Has been linked with both Arsenal and Chelsea, but would perhaps struggled to get in either of those teams. We’ll predict a late move from Tottenham will succeed.

13) Morgan Schneiderlin (Southampton)

Has been at the heart of everything good about Southampton so far this season. He would be a fool not to see out the season at St. Mary’s and see if he could be part of something special, but Arsenal should get their man next summer.

12) Mats Hummels (Borussia Dortmund)

A big part of Dortmund’s recent history, loyalty will ensure he stays put this winter, but if Dortmund fail to make the Champions League, a move to Manchester United next summer could be entirely possible.

11) Juan Cuadrado (Fiorentina)

Attracted interest from Barcelona and Manchester United last summer, but both of those teams would struggle to fit the Colombian into their current sides. Manchester City, who have grown frustrated with Jesus Navas, could be the surprise winners here.

10) Yohan Cabaye (Paris Saint Germain)

A definite mover for us in the January transfer window, with Arsenal the most likely destination for the Frenchman, who could be the ideal replacement for Jack Wilshere, should the injury he picked up against Manchester United on Saturday prove to be serious.

9) Jackson Martinez (FC Porto)

Has most recently attracted interest from Liverpool who, as well all know, are in desperate need of a new centre forward following the departure of Luis Suarez, the poor form of Mario Balotelli and the injury to Daniel Sturridge. But we think the Colombian will stay put until at least the start of next season.

8) Arturo Vidal (Juventus)

This one again? Yes the Arturo Vidal to Manchester United saga is still ongoing, and we just don’t see this one happening. Vidal has struggled with form and fitness this season, and those factors should be enough to dissuade United and keep him in Turin for the time being.

7) Edinson Cavani (Paris Saint Germain)

We all know that Cavani is frustrated with playing second fiddle as PSG to the one and only Zlatan Ibrahimovic, but will he leave as early as January? In terms of a move to the Premier League, only Liverpool are on the lookout for a first choice centre forward, and there would be question marks over whether they could afford him after their summer splurge.

6) Gonzalo Higuain (Napoli)

Missed out on the Champions League this season, but despite links with Liverpool there have not been too many murmurs of discontent. The Argentine looks most likely to see out the season and then re-evaluate from there.

5) Marco Reus (Borussia Dortmund)

His latest injury has surely ended any slim chance of a move coming in January for the German international. A move next summer looks a forgone conclusion however, and it’s just a matter of who will win the battle for his signature. We wouldn’t want to call that one.

4) Sami Khedira (Real Madrid)

Arsenal and Chelsea chased the German World Cup winner throughout the summer, but it seems as if Bayern Munich would perhaps be the best fit for Khedira, either in January, or on a free transfer next summer – which probably seems the more likely option.

3) Ross Barkley (Everton)

Everton have said publicly that they are not under pressure to sell their prize asset, and they are dead right, the question marks will come if the club fail to live up to the player’s ambitions, and that shouldn’t come until at least the end of the season when the Toffee’s know their finishing position.

2) William Carvalho (Sporting Lisbon)

Another Arsenal target, and we’re going to go ahead and say that Arsene Wenger will pull this one off in January. So that’s Carvalho and Cabaye in a new-look midfield, as the likes of Arteta and Rosicky get fazed out. Lisbon will definitely sell at the right price, and the deal works for everyone.

1) Kevin Strootman (AS Roma)

Another deal we expect to happen is Strootman to Manchester United. Louis van Gaal has been open with the fact that there will be no repeat of this summer’s spending splurge, but we fully expect United to bolster in midfield and at the back, with several players heading out to raise the funds.
