Liverpool NEED To Sign These Four Experienced Players To Improve Youthful Squad, Including Chelsea Star & Man United Target

Four old heads to save Liverpool’s season.

It is becoming all the more clear that, Steven Gerrard aside, Liverpool may well be struggling due to an overly youthful squad this season. The Reds regularly rely on the likes of Raheem Sterling, Javier Manquillo, Emre Can and Lazar Markovic – all players too young to be carrying a club of Liverpool’s size.

Gerrard’s decline in peformances, in addition to the departures of experienced players such as Luis Suarez, Pepe Reina and the recent retirement of Jamie Carragher mean the club is losing experience and leadership on the pitch. Despite plenty of talent, the team needs some old heads to come in and help them through this difficult spell.

Here are four big names all at their peak who could be excellent additions to this Liverpool squad this January:

1) Petr Cech (Chelsea)

Recently linked with both Liverpool and Arsenal, Petr Cech would make a superb signing for the Reds as he looks to leave Stamford Bridge for first-team football. Not only is the 32-year-old still a world class goalkeeper, he has won everything there is to win at club level and would add some real know-how and fighting spirit to this Liverpool team.

2) Edinson Cavani (Paris Saint-Germain)

The striker Liverpool should have signed when Luis Suarez left, Paris Saint-Germain’s Edinson Cavani is likely to be available in the near future and has a proven record of scoring regularly in both Serie A and Ligue 1. Also an experienced striker at international level for Uruguay, there’s no doubt he could be a big hit at Anfield.

3) Yohan Cabaye (Paris Saint-Germain)

Another player on the books at PSG who could be looking for an exit, French midfielder Yohan Cabaye is a great all-rounder with plenty of experience playing at the top level in both the Premier League and Champions League alongside his short spell in Ligue 1. With great energy, passing and an eye for goal, Cabaye could be an ideal Steven Gerrard replacement and available for under £20m.

4) Miranda (Atletico Madrid)

Recently linked with Manchester United, it has emerged that Atletico Madrid could sell Miranda for around £20m this January. The 30-year-old centre-back would no doubt be an improvement on Liverpool’s current defenders, who have leaked goals all season, whilst also providing the team with the know-how to see games through, having won the La Liga title and reached the Champions League final with Atletico last season.
