Big signings are planned for January and next summer, meaning the Red Devils could line up with this incredibly strong XI for next season…would this side win the Premier League title?

Goalkeeper and defence:

With rumours linking David de Gea to Real Madrid, it could be that United will be signing a new goalkeeper next season. Elsewhere, it is expected that £47m could be spent on bringing Mats Hummels to the club from Borussia Dortmund, alongside a smart free transfer at right-back to provide an upgrade on the struggling Antonio Valencia.

Midfield:

Long linked as one of van Gaal’s priority targets, AS Roma playmaker Kevin Strootman could line up in midfield alongside his fellow countryman Daley Blind in a strong-looking partnership. Ander Herrera and Juan Mata, meanwhile could be two midfielders on their way out of Old Trafford in the near future.

Attack:

In a star-studded new attack, big money could be spent on bringing in Gareth Bale from Real Madrid and Thomas Muller from Bayern Munich. These may be funded in part by the sale of Robin van Persie, while the £44m set aside to sign Radamel Falcao should be available as the on-loan AS Monaco frontman seems unlikely to earn a permanent move to the club.
