The Gunners are in the top seven of the list, with only real Champions League contenders and Manchester United ahead of them. Rather surprisingly, high spending PSG are nowhere to be seen.

Here are the top seven highest wage bills per player in Europe…

7) Arsenal, £75, 037 per player

The Gunners pay massive wages, but still see finishing fourth in the Premier League and getting out of their UEFA Champions League group as success.

6) Chelsea, £76,626 per player

The Blues pay less than two grand more than London rivals Arsenal to each player, but they do have a larger squad. This means that their overall wage bill is probably higher. Even so, they are running away with the Premier League and serious challengers for the Champions League – making their investment appear a sound one.

5) Manchester United, £83,120 per player

The Red Devils will be need to improve greatly if they’re going to continue this outlay. Fortunately, Louis Van Gaal’s men have extraordinary backing from Man Utd’s commercial partners.

4) Bayern Munich, £84,671 per player

Pep Guardiola’s side are expectedly high on the list, with their players having proven themselves amongst the world’s best.

3) Barcelona, £94,256 per player

Catalan side FC Barcelona are very close to the top of this list, due to the club’s keenness to reward high performing players coming through their youth ranks alongside their externally recruited superstars.

2) Real Madrid, £96, 027 per player

They’re called the Galacticos for a reason – Los Blancos have got a massive wage bill.

1) Manchester CIty, £102, 653 per player

The only club above £100,000, it is hardly surprising that Manchester City’s fans are unhappy with the side’s inability to perform in Europe when this much is spent.
